TV Preview: THE TOP 'SUPERNATURAL' MOMENTS TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON (WITH PHOTOS!)
Dean's time in hell and the consequences. What role will Castiel play? Will Sam turn to the dark side?

SUPERNATURAL took a big step in a new direction in season four. Instead of the battling demons and fighting one big demon throughout the season, we were introduced to another faction involved in the fight … Heaven. And Heaven and the angels have a plan and that involves Dean and probably does not involve Sam. But so far in this most interesting season that has taken the show in a new direction … what can we expect for the back nine episodes of the season?
Here are some of the moments I’m looking forward to for the rest of the season:
(1) Ramifications from Dean’s time in hell. We know it’s coming … after revealing at the end of the fall finale in one of the best moments of the season (in a season that has been so good so far), Dean revealed that he hadn’t just been in Hell for four months, but four decades! Yes, 40 years being tortured and eventually given the opportunity to tear the flesh from the bones of those in hell only to be put back together the next day. Obviously, this is going to continue to affect not only Dean (and his drinking and nightmares), but will affect Sam as well as I’m sure we have not only seen the last of the demons that tortured Dean in hell but the fact that Dean just can’t handle what he did down there (and really who could?).
2) More Castiel. Producer/director Robert Singer said in this interview that we are definitely going to learn more about Castiel and what his real mission is with Dean. He also gave a hint that it didn’t really matter that Castiel was the one chosen to bring Dean out of Hell, but his mission. Which I believe has something to do with Sam (more on that next) and, of course, stopping Lucifer from unlocking the keys to Hell in order to bring chaos to Earth. But … is there something else? Is Castiel actually working for God? Is there an ulterior motive? Is Castiel working for the enemy? I dunno, but it will be fun to watch and I surmise Castiel isn’t the “angel” that we think him to be.
3) Sam’s evil turn. Yeah producer/director Robert Singer didn’t say much in this interview in regard to what happens to Sam in the rest of the season, but he sure hinted at the fact that Sam will continue to clash with the angles over what he should and should not be doing and that Ruby will definitely have a role to play in “what becomes of Sam” That means to me that he’s turning evil. That he will do so and be the demon that Dean will be responsible for stopping in order to stop the gates of Hell from being unleashed. Now will Dean be able to save Sam? I think that will be for another season, but I think things are going to go south for the boy with demon’s blood and quickly in second half of the season of SUPERNATURAL.
4) Angels and demons. Obviously not everything is black and white among otherworldly bodies … Anna was an angel that turned against God, Alastair is a badass demon that tortured Dean, Ruby is trapped in a dead girl’s body and may or may not have the best of intentions for Sam (and she’s certainly pushing him to use his demon powers more and more). What new demons and angels will we see and are we going to see any of these awesome demon/angel fights we say in previous installments? Yes, please.
5) Bringing the funny. I hope. No, I pray that we get at least one or two funny episodes in the back half of the year. They did such an awesome job with “Monster Movie” and two of the other episodes (including Dean breaking into song at the end of one of them) from this year that it would be a shame if we didn’t at least get a little levity with our serious monster/Heaven and Hell business from this year. It would have to be a one-shot obviously and they could even do it in way saying this happened “before Dean went to Hell” or whatever. But they do them so well that sitcoms have gotta be jealous.
